Proudly based in Australia, Hark Medical is passionate about making health and independence easy through smart medication management. We're a diverse team of bright minds with backgrounds in health, business, technology, design, engineering, and more.

Our journey began when our founders noticed their loved ones struggling with their medications — missing a dose here, taking the wrong dose there. Living in different cities made it even tougher to help.

They realised that many people face similar challenges, especially older adults who value their independence but struggle with complex medication regimens.

The Challenge

Managing medications can be daunting. Globally, only 50% of individuals adhere to their prescribed medication schedules at home and in care institutions (WHO, 2003). This low adherence compromises health and autonomy, particularly for older adults. It often leaves clients feeling overly reliant on loved ones or staff, while families worry about their safety and independence.

In Residential Aged Care Facilities, medication management is also a challenge, with rounds requiring considerable time and resources, processes that are prone to errors and lacking in visibility.

Our Solution

Sasha is a smart medication management device designed to simplify medication routines and rounds and make them safer. Our system uses pharmacist-packed medication sachets, enhancing safety and compliance for clients and providers. When it’s time for a dose, Sasha sends alerts through customisable sound, voice, or light notifications. A simple fingerprint touch unlocks Sasha, and it then releases the right dose at the right time.

Our system is flexible: besides scheduled doses, it allows users to self-administer on-demand medication within guidelines set by healthcare professionals. Sasha tracks and reports adherence events, sharing this information through a connected app.
